Meet the Therapist
If you’re here, you’ve found yourself in a good place. My name is Teneya Morman, and I am the founder of, Guiding Life Therapeutic Services, PLLC. I’ll start by acknowledging how difficult it is to seek help, rather for yourself, your child, a loved one, or a friend. One of the most important factors in receiving help is being paired with the right therapist, let’s see if I am the right therapist for you.
I’ll start by sharing my educational background. I have a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling that I received in 2015 from North Carolina Central University. I am a National Certified Counselor (632743), Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (13502); I hold a Professional Educator’s License with the Department of Instruction in the state of North Carolina (1187750), and I am a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist Associate (22283), for the state of North Carolina. I have experienced over the past seven years providing services in a school setting, a crisis unit, and providing outpatient services to young children, adolescents, and adults.
While my education is extensive, it is my compassion and life experiences that makes, “Therapy with Teneya,” a life changing experience. I always meet my clients and families where they are, making the best effort to understand you and set appropriate therapeutic goals. As a therapist, I always acknowledge the difficulty you may encounter while working towards becoming the best version of yourself. Therefore, I take my time to build rapport with every individual I am blessed to work with. Making life changes is a difficult task, a task which requires patience, trust, and vulnerability.
While working with me, here are some therapy modalities I’ll use, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, Mindfulness, Brief Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Integrative Therapy. Therapy is a process, while not an easy one, it is a process in which many people have experienced success, due to putting in the time and effort.
If you want to be heard, I’ll hear you; if you want to find value in your life, I’ll search with you; if you want to decrease feelings of depression and anxiety, I’ll teach you; if you want to have a healthy mental health, I’ll guide you.
Smile!! Prioritizing your mental health is one of the best decisions you can make! Thanks so much for stopping by and thank you for your consideration in choosing me to help you along your journey!
Message to Parents
Knowing when to seek therapy for your child is not always clear cut. In some instances, you may think your child needs to talk to someone and your child may be resistant. In other cases, you may think your child is, “perfectly fine,” although, in some ways they may be “different.” If you don’t know, ask. If your child reaches out to you, by verbally asking for help or if you notice significant changes in their behavior, reach out to a professional for help.
When children and adolescents are engaged in, “Therapy with Teneya,” it is my duty to involve parents/guardians and work with the family as a team. This is done while maintaining client- therapist confidentiality. I have a passion for working with young people and I am extremely dedicated to helping them overcome issues and providing a safe space for them to work through life’s challenges.
